Gislebertus photo on wood in ornate antique frame
Gislebertus, of Autun did indeed flourish in the 12th century, and was a French Romanesque sculptor, whose decoration (about 1120–1135) of the Cathedral of Saint Lazare at Autun, France – consisting of numerous doorways, tympanums and capitals – represents some of the most original work of the period
So it’s a picture of some of Gislebertus ‘Flight into Egypt’ on wood and framed in an, I would guess to be, late Victorian frame which was used to belong to Howard Hayes Scullard 1903 – 1983 Professor of ancient history at Kings collage London from 1959-70
The photograph came from a bundle of old photos and prints
Lovingly made and crafted entirely from recycled timber in our workshop/showroom on a farm just outside the lovely village of Yoxall in rural Staffordshire
The frame has a little damage as seen in photos
One of a kind, totally unique and original
This framed picture roughly measures:
Height 39cm (15½”)
Width 34cm (13¼”)
Depth 6cm (2¼”)
Hooks and fittings included
Stopping anything from going into a skip and putting it to good use has got to be a good thing. Everything made with love, care and imagination and its hopefully making a small difference to the big picture
